Well after some time my creation is complete, my pièce de résistance if you will. I have always enjoyed Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man sketch along with his other works. To that end I wanted to create a Rainmeter suite for my Windows 7 desktop that incorporated the Vitruvian Man sketch as the main background.

The Vitruvian Man is a world-renowned drawing created by Leonardo da Vinci around the year 1487. It is accompanied by notes based on the work of the famed architect, Vitruvius. The drawing, which is in pen and ink on paper, depicts a male figure in two superimposed positions with his arms and legs apart and simultaneously inscribed in a circle and square.

The drawing is based on the correlations of ideal human proportions with geometry described by the ancient Roman architect Vitruvius in Book III of his treatise De Architectura. Vitruvius described the human figure as being the principal source of proportion among the Classical orders of architecture. Other artists had attempted to depict this concept, with less success. Leonardo’s drawing is traditionally named in honor of the architect.

While usually a fan of dark suites and themes I find this one to be pleasing and tried to stay true to the original color palette found in Da Vinci’s sketch. The hardest decision was deciding on which font I would use, in the end I chose Rabiohead by Jakob Fischer. In my opinion the font gave this Rainmeter suite it’s finishing touch. You can view a screenshot of my Windows 7 desktop using the suite at the top of this post.

Using the Rainmeter 1.2 export program Rainstaller and the .rmskin format I offer you the Vitruvian Man Suite. The Rainstaller utility allows me to include the addons and themes along with the skin in a single .rmskin package. The suite can then be installed by you with just a double click. I included the Rabiohead font separately so you can install it into Windows 7 if you wish.

This suite was designed for 1280 x 1024 desktops. It can be used for other resolutions just move the skins and arrange the background as you wish. As this is my first Rainmeter suite it may or may not work flawlessly for everyone. Any feedback would be appreciated and will help me as I move on to my next creative endeavor. Hey Hillary try using the HDMI cable from your laptop and connect it to your TV. Next right click on your Windows 7 desktop and select View. Uncheck Show Desktop Icons and Show Desktop Gadgets.

You now have a large soothing landscape slide-show on your TV, you can just recheck the Show Desktop Icons and Gadgets to have your items come back. You can adjust the time images are shown by right clicking on your Windows 7 desktop and select Personalize. Click on Desktop Background bottom left and selecting the time images are changed.

Included in this theme are 75 different landscapes to make your Windows background an ever changing vista. Remember these themes take time so help promote them to others and don’t forget to share using socials like Digg & Stumble!

The theme pack is setup to change your desktop background every 15 minutes and will shuffle the images. You can personalize the theme pack to your heart’s content, removing landscapes as you wish. Just right click on your Windows 7 desktop and choose personalize. The time that landscapes are shuffled can also be changed in Windows 7 from every 5 minutes to once per day.

Enjoy these Windows 7 wallpapers I created this evening using Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man sketch. I took the original and with CS4 cloned the borders to create 2 different 1280 x 1024 wallpapers. These will be the starting point for my next Windows 7 Rainmeter theme.

Now I just need to find the right brushes to begin and I will be set not to mention extra time that I never seem to have. Please enjoy both these wallpapers. You should be able to use them in other resolutions without too much trouble.

Using Rainmeter & CS4 I tried my hand at creating my first theme last night along with my first wallpaper creation. Actual time invested about 1 1/2 hours, so not much of a learning curve, I am sure many of you could do it faster. Please leave a comment with your opinion of the theme itself or just the wallpaper.

I have included the theme, wallpaper & skins used in a .zip format. Unzip then just double click on the theme. The taskbar is RocketDock and is not included in the theme. Theme is best used with any Rainmeter RC that includes RainThemes. Wallpaper best used with 1280 x 1084.
