If you are looking for gadgets you have to see this article. It is all about Rainmeter which turns my Windows 7 into a widget and gadget desktop on steroids. It almost makes all other gadgets and widgets obsolete, almost. Just check out the article for a screenshot of my desktop and you will understand.

As of this article there are over 3309 choices of gadgets all with the ability to use Windows 7 automatic install feature. Right click on your Windows 7 desktop and you will see the Gadgets option.
Yahoo Widgets
While not a Microsoft sponsored site, Yahoo Widgets is chock full of over 5,685 different new gadgets for your desktop. You will use Yahoo! Widgets 4.5 to install these gadgets. Many of the widgets are very highly customizable so exploring & trying these out should keep you busy for a while.
