SC Governor Sanford Hookie For Nookie
My state’s Governor, SC Gov. Mark Sanford, admitted Wednesday he’s been having an affair with a woman he visited on a secret trip to Argentina and said he’ll resign as head of the Republican Governors Association. He left unsaid whether he’ll leave office or not and I doubt he will have a shot at being a 2012 presidential candidate.
Sanford didn’t want our great state of South Carolina to take federal stimulus cash for our state’s schools assistance and it took a state court order for him to take the money. Instead he can run off playing hookie and get himself a little nookie during Father’s Day of all days.
What an example from someone who is 49 and a father of 4, way to lead by example. His wife had told reporters when he went AWOL that she did not know where her husband went for the Father’s Day weekend. He was “hiking a trail” alright!
Sanford said “I’ve let down a lot of people, that’s the bottom line,” at a news conference. He said he’s known the woman about eight years, but their relationship turned into something more a year ago while he was on an economic development trip to Argentina. He also said his wife knew about the other woman for the past 5 months. Maybe one of our esteemed lawmakers could tell us if there is a law against adultery in our state.
I wonder when his resignation will be announced, perhaps by Friday….not soon enough!
